Walk On Water

This is Sarah Beaton writing this blog. I was originally going to write something else, but I believe that I need to share something that might challenge us a little bit.
This past Weekend we celebrated Easter. We had a whole week from Palm Sunday to Resurrection Sunday to remind ourselves who we worship and why we worship Him. I found myself sitting in service on Sunday crying. I didn’t know why I was crying.

I am a believer. Been saved, born again and speak in tongues (we’ll touch on this in another blog). I have heard the “Easter Message” before. I have preached and taught the “Easter Message” and haven’t cried before. So, finding myself crying this particular Easter Sunday was very strange.
A few years ago, I lost my dad and the last holiday with him was Easter. He is and was a believer. I was in the hospital room when he died a few weeks later. That night I had an experience with Christ like I had not had before. When I worshiped this Resurrection Sunday, I knew that Jesus was and is the real deal. He is the ONLY One we worship.
Most days Monday to Saturday we sometimes forget that. We get caught up on the job that we have to complete. Or we get preoccupied with our kids that we might place them above God. There are times we worship other things and forget to keep our worship on Jesus. And yes, I am preaching to the choir. But we must remember to keep worshiping and keep our eyes on Jesus. Keeping our eyes on Jesus is illustrated in a historical event and story in the Bible.
In the Bible, Jesus walks on water. Peter calls out to Jesus and says, “Lord, if it is you (Jesus) then tell me to come.” Jesus says “Come.” So, Peter gets out of the boat and walks on water. However, we fail to see that when Peter took his eyes off Jesus, Peter began to sink. He failed to look at his Lord. When we start walking with Christ, life is great. But somewhere between the mundane days, we begin to look at the waves and forget to keep our eyes on Jesus.
“Jesus is first Lord because He was from the beginning and Savior second because of His death and resurrection.”
As I worshiped this Sunday, my mind wondered to a conversation I had, had with a friend a couple of years ago. He asked me “Is Jesus ‘Savior and Lord’ or ‘Lord and Savior’”? I answered, “Lord and Savior”. He said, “Most times people say Savior and Lord because they believe He died for them and forget that He was reigning before He died.” He went on to say that Jesus is first Lord because He was from the beginning and Savior second because of His death and resurrection.
So, as we sang as a congregation All Hail King Jesus, I sang knowing that Jesus is my Lord, then my Savior. He is the only One who can walk with me in the mundane days and my darkest and loneliest days. He is the person that I had an experience with when my dad died. Jesus is first Lord because He was from the beginning and Savior second because of His death and resurrection. He is the only One who I can and will worship because He is King Jesus!
So, All Hail King Jesus! May we worship Him now and forevermore!
Have a nice day… See you soon
