Do you enjoy adventures, an exciting or remarkable experience or discovering something new, learning or doing something that is a journey into the unknown and could involve risk. Now, not every adventure involves risk, but there is always something learned in the adventure. Stepping into the unknown and walking through it will change you. You are now educated and have acquired knowledge. This is a learning experience. “Experience is the best teacher”.
When our children were younger, I would say to them that “Learning is an adventure.” This was an encouragement to our children to see their classroom education as a learning adventure. Our family also traveled internationally and so the classroom was a global environment.

Today as adults we hear it said that “you are never too old to learn”. In this life we are on an adventurous learning journey. This is all so obvious we don’t even think about it, or do we? What is our mindset when presented with a challenge? Will we step into the unknown and learn something new? Will we learn from one who is younger than us? Is all technology something that some do not want to embrace? Are you willing to step up and teach another person something you have mastered, or are you just not bothered? Whether you are learning or being taught, is your go to answer “look it up on the internet?
Learning and teaching or teaching and learning go hand in hand.
Today I walked through another learning adventure and watched my young teacher get frustrated as I made notes. I am a hands-on learner. As I journeyed through this learning experience, my young teacher became enlightened. There were some technological aspects where there were gaps in what they were trying to teach me. So, the gaps had to be filled or fixed to make sense in what I was learning. The lesson was aborted and postponed to another date. I still do not have all the knowledge I need in this learning experience.
And so is my life in God. I am still learning, growing, adventuring, and stepping into the unknown. That is the walk of faith. Learning and teaching or teaching and learning go hand in hand. God wants us to know Him, to learn of Him, to grow in Him and He has given us everything we need to teach us and lead us in this adventure with Him.
“All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately—behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]”
2 Timothy 3:16 (Amp)
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and remind you of all that I said to you”. John 14:26 (NASB)
In this adventure of learning or teaching we must also recognize that the student and the teacher may have different goals in these experiences. My daughter once asked me to go play “badminton” with her. During this whole experience she wanted to have fun, but I wanted to help her. So, I slipped into teaching mode. As we left the park she said to me, “Mom, can the teacher in you just not help but come out?”
Happy adventures!
