Decrees and Declarations!

In this journey of blogging and sharing stories or thoughts I am processing; I am constantly reminded of the Scripture:

“You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you;

And light will shine on your ways.”

Job 22:28 NASB 1995

One day before God moved us from South Africa I was sitting in the backyard of our home talking to the Lord. On this day I declared: “My next home would have a view, and the laundry would be part of the main residential structure.” Now I had a lovely home, but it lacked what I declared. Several months later the company my late husband was working for gave him an international assignment and this meant we were relocated to Auckland, New Zealand. The house we stayed in during this 3,5-year assignment was a complete fulfilment of my declaration. Every room had a view, including the laundry which was inside the main residential structure.

It was sometime later in a church meeting I heard the pastor speak on the importance of our words, even declaring the word of God over our lives, our families and our world. I was immediately reminded that I was living my declaration! Then, I was also reminded of a chorus I had sung as a volunteer with Youth for Christ. All dealing with my words.

Psalm 19:14 NKJV

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.

I became aware of listening to my words, and what kind of life and world they were forming. Let the words of my mouth be acceptable! Acceptable to God, to my family, and to friends, and the random stranger that I meet in the walk of life.

After our children accepted Jesus into their hearts, we became more intentional with our words to them. And when praying with our children we would remind our children who they were in Christ, what Christ said about them, words that would affirm their thoughts about themselves. We told them they were special, precious, and joyful. We declared that in Christ they were winners in this life.

So, I have listed three verses that any reader could speak over their loved ones.

“Let the words of my mouth be acceptable.”

Romans 8:37 NIV

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

1 John 4:4 BSB

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because the One in you is greater than the one in the world.

Philippians 4:13 NKJV

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

In the transitions and moves we have made as a family, and through the various trials it has been God’s Word and Holy Spirit that have directed us. And one day after recently being moved to the United States of America a precious missionary friend reminded us of the word in Job. We needed to be reminded.

“You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you;

And light will shine on your ways.”

Job 22:28 NASB 1995

Decree and declare a thing!
